hi. i have read other posts of people having hard lockups in firefox (FF). not sure if my problem is the same as theirs or not, but maybe someone will see something here and help us all. i started out trying to play a apple movie trailer with ubuntu. the trailer would just flicker a white screen, no sound and no picture. no lockup either. i tried several, all did the same. read some posts and found where someone fixed this by installing the default user agent addon to firefox, and add a quicktime agent. i did that, and now it works in ubuntu (which is using FF 3.0.14). i tried playing a movie trailer in fc11. got the same white flickering screen. added the same user agent and tried playing the trailer. it looks like it is going to load and play (buffers up for awhile), but right when you think its going to play, it just hangs there. black movie screen. i can still move the mouse all over, but can't click on anything, such as pull down window, right or left click, nothing. tried to alt-f1, ctrl-f1, alt-ctrl-del, anything i could think of, nothing happens. hard lock. had to press power button for several seconds to get the computer to pwr off. have reproduced this several times.
i haven't tried installing chrome or opera or any other browser to see if they could play the movie trailers or not. i am running 2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i686.PAE kernel with all updates.
thanks for any help. to my knowledge, i haven't had any lockups other than when trying to play these movie trailers.
