Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN won't connect N band

I've got a WRT610N linksys access point. Whenever I connect to the access point though I connect @ 54mbps (G) rather than N. Has anybody seen that ?

I wonder if it's got something to do with connecting on the 20MHZ channel ? When I look at the AP wireless status I see:

Has anybody seen this before ?

enabled N speed on 4965AGN by switching to AES security mode

Hi,

Here's what I did. 1st I upgraded the driver from Intel to the latest version (this might not be necessary, try step two below 1st). I have vista (yes I know) so in my case I clicked on the active wireless connection, then view status. I use WPA2 security. I've been under 54mbps too all this time and I didn't know it. Please note my internet connection is 15mbps so the only time I would see a difference is when I navigate and transfer data on my network over wifi. Anyway, when I click on status I see the speed at 54mbps. I clicked on wireless properties. There's a connection tab and a security tab. Under security, I switched from encryption type TKIP to AES (the one mentioned on Intel site) without making any other changes to my router (Dlink Dir-655) and when I come back to the connection properties window, the speed has jumped to 130mbps. This could be higher for you depending on your wireless router.

Pompey,

Did you get this resolved? I'm having the same issue, In windows I can connect at 300mb, but in F12 I can only get 54mb...

Running the Intel 4965agn on F12 x86_64

anyone have any suggestions?

tia!
