FC8 Synaptic repository

My FC8 installation has stopped automatically updating. Either I incorrectly changed it or the repository has changed.

How do I restore my Synaptic to the automatic system updates it once had?

Thanks.

F8 has been past end of life for some time. There won't be any more updates. Only the current and previous versions receive updates, at the moment that is F10 and F11. It will change again at the end of the year when F12 is released.

that is because fedora 8 hit END OF LIFE about a year ago
there will never be any more updates for fedora 9 ,8 ,7,...
at this time ONLY fedora 10 , 11 and 12TESTING are supported and in a few months ( 1 or 2 ) fedora 10 hits end of life

Please install fedora 11

well hey, if whatever your using right now works perfectly, then by no means should you have to update to the next version really. what you should do is list out your pros and cons between versions, such as compatibility with hardware and software, performance, things like that. just depends on what you really want, you may have to install the new versions to find out some of these answers anyway, if your willing to, you can install them on another partition or hard drive and try them out.

* Fedora 10 will be maintained until 1 month after the release of Fedora 12.
* Fedora 11 will be maintained until 1 month after the release of Fedora 13.

with fedora ( unlike Arch) is if you do not keep up to date then there will be NO SECURITY updates after 13 months when that version hits it's End Of Life .
