Need Unix plot

Some programs (like ngspice) provide graphical output in unix plot format. I have been unable to find a program (in Linux) which can produce plots from these files. There are programs to convert pbm to plot - but not vice versa.

Does anyone know of an implementation of Unix plot utility on Linux? I use fedora 10/11 on various machines at home/office.

Use the program "plot" from the plotutils package.

I'm not familiar with this format, but I guess the GNU Metafile format should be compatible with it. (http://www.gnu.org/software/plotutil...ils.html#SEC71)

Have you tried GNU Plotutils (Fedora repo. package name: plotutils)? It provides a set of commands such as plot(1) and graph(1) which, by name, indicates a compatibility with the original Unix plotting tools.

Anyway, this is just my 2c and I'm really no expert. Perhaps you could give GNU Plotutils a try and see for your self. Good luck

EDIT: oh, beaten by markkuk's quick reply

Unix plot in linux

Thanks Markkuk and Aleph,
Plot from the plotutils package works.

(Now I have to convince ng-spice not to make the axes prominent and the plot itself in grey dotted lines!) Maybe I shall save the plot output in fig format and hand edit the line types. Unfortunately, the plotted quantity results in a zillion line segments -- so editing in graphical mode using xfig is out.

I should have reported success earlier -- but had my bandwidth reduced to zero due to deadlines.
