smooth gtk engine for fedora 11

Once upon a time there was a gtk engine called 'smooth' which was the coolest theme engine ever. Unfortunately it has not been updated for a long time and the latest gtk version I used it with was 2.4. Fedora 11 ships with 2.10 and if I compile the smooth engine myself it will not work with gtk 2.10. Some window operations (like Open in gimp) will just crash the application.

This is really unfortunate because I have a couple of really nice themes that require the 'smooth' engine. Which fedora 11 supported gtk engine comes closest to 'smooth'?

Did anybody manage to get the original 'smooth' source code working with fedora 11?
