When I boot from the Fedora 11 Live CD, it loads the desktop (Blue patterned background), and it displays the mouse pointer, performs an auto login, but after that nothing happens. The mouse cursor will move after I move the mouse but it is very slow in doing so (takes around 30 seconds for it to respond).
I left it running for 3 hours just in case the machine was acting very slowly (Its a very old machine, running on a pentium 3) but it just remains as an empty desktop.
I had similar problems when i tried to use the opensuse live cd which is why I tried Fedora. Which leads me to believe it is a hardware issue.
Any ideas as to why this may be happening and how it could be remedied? I followed some instructions in a forum thread I googled, which took me to the text login (via ctl+alt+f2), but when I tried to login as root (or anything else for that matter), the login would just timeout.
I'm totally new to linux and fedora so I havent tried too much as im not really sure what Im doing.
