Question The Virtual Machine and the Network

I'm trying to make a virtual machine on my dev box accessible to the large network in the office. i have tried to ping the ip address of box the VM and the virb0 network adapter.

Can anyone suggest how i can make the VM viewable to the rest of the network.

Dev box is running Fedora 10 with QEMU virtual machines

Thanks

I haven't used QEMU but generally your network has to be "bridged" instead of "nat" for the VM to be accessible to the outside network. Should just be a quick setting change.

I've tried creating a bridge with:
brctl addbr br0
brctl addif br0 eth0

then using that bridge though the virt-manager GUI as a network connection but my host machine loses transmission of data on the network

I found the solution @ http://thuannvn.blogspot.com/2009/02...with-virt.html

i needed to restart the computer as the bridging wasn't working correctly. i needed the firewall to stop rejecting packets aswell

Super, glad you got it, thanks for posting the solution. You'd be surprised how often I come back to threads like this thinking "wait I remember someone else having this problem..."
