X failing to load libglx.so [SOLVED]

I just installed (fresh install not upgrade, from burned dvd) FC11 x86_64 and am having trouble getting my video driver to work.

video card: nVidia 9800GT
driver: 185.18.14 installed rpm

glxgears tells me:
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

When I start X I get these errors:
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
dlopen: libGLcore.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(EE) Failed to load /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia//libglx.so
(EE) Failed to load module "glx" (loader failed, 7)

but when I check for those I get:
$ ldd /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia//libglx.so
linux-vdso.so.1 => (0x00007fffd0dff000)
libGLcore.so.1 => not found
libnvidia-tls.so.1 => not found
libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x00007faa998a3000)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00000038dd600000)

The two 'not found' libs are in my system:
$ locate libnvidia-tls.so.1
/usr/lib/nvidia/libnvidia-tls.so.1
/usr/lib/nvidia/libnvidia-tls.so.185.18.14
/usr/lib/nvidia/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.1
/usr/lib/nvidia/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.185.18.14
/usr/lib64/nvidia/libnvidia-tls.so.1
/usr/lib64/nvidia/libnvidia-tls.so.185.18.14
/usr/lib64/nvidia/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.1
/usr/lib64/nvidia/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.185.18.14

and
$ locate libGLcore.so.1
/usr/lib/nvidia/libGLcore.so.1
/usr/lib/nvidia/libGLcore.so.185.18.14
/usr/lib64/nvidia/libGLcore.so.1
/usr/lib64/nvidia/libGLcore.so.185.18.14

I have both 64 and 32 bit versions because I installed WINE to play WoW and the directions for that say to have both.

So - if the libs are there why isn't it finding them and how can i make it do so?

OK, looks good. Go to Leigh's NVidia tutorial in the "Guides and Solutions" section, and try the edits to section "Files" that he shows (add any missing lines exactly as shown). If that fails, also try (should not be necessary, but try anyway) the blacklisting of "nouveau".

If that fails, go to Post #4 in that thread and try the DKMS-based driver RPMs (the two required for 64-bit OS) - follow the instructions carefully to remove existing RPMFusion bits first. There are also some beta DKMS-based RPMs floating around by Leigh... if it comes to that: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpo...0&postcount=67

[SOLVED] X failing to load libglx.so

Thank you!
Quoting and saying which part worked for me in case it helps anyone searching for this later:

The edits didn't fix it, nor did blacklisting nouveau (so I un-blacklisted it to be sure that wouldn't cause other problems later)

That did it! Thank you very much!

Obviously a major problem with the RPMFusion 185.18.14 RPMs, although it's far from clear if it's the RPMs or the base driver....

Glad it worked. Only drawback is: now we rely on Leigh to update the [S]RPM(s). He's usually very good about posting updates.
