Desktop Workshop
Thanks to a post on the Arch Linux forums, I started what has become my Desktop Workshop. The workshop is an archive of currently 37 custom openbox layouts, designed by request and free for the taking. Feel free to stop by and check it out or make a request of your own here, or via the mail form on the website.

That's funny - you said exactly the same on the Ubuntu and Mint forums.

2 posts, two ads to drive traffic to his own sites. Linux related or not but I'd say this is spamming.

If that's how the community feels, feel free to disable my account and ignore me. However I'm just trying to provide a free service to the Linux community. Every other distro has received that service with open arms. You certainly aren't required to do the same, but I thought that said service might be of interest to some of your users who may not have found it any other way.

Plus Crunchbag, PCLinuxOS, openSUSE and the original on Arch, of course. Are there others, or should I stop looking?
Probably would have been a good idea to float this past the Staff first, just in case one of them has an itchy trigger finger ....

Cut the guy some slack! He does ask for donations but his service is free. I wouldnt classify this as spam, just getting the word out about an open source site.

Ghost, you just need to understand that this is an active forum that takes pride in its spam killing. They do a very good and thorough job of keeping this place spam free, it does have the side effect of creating itchy trigger fingers. They tend to shoot first then ask questions. The proper protocol would have been to run this by Dan, Bob or Leigh.
I wish you luck on your site and your circumstances. You have some nice themes there.

Actually, if you look closely, you'll see that I never mention that word. But the forum does have policies on advertising/linking.
Besides, it doesn't matter what you or I think. And it's been a while since we've had a good banning around here.

Excellent points here. A "courtesy" check with the Staff first would have been preferable.

You talkin' about me?
Seriously: I've looked at the site, and it seems to be fine - I see no problems.

I surprised at that, Ubuntu's forum gets hit up by all kinds of spammers. Everything from weight loss to porn.
Maybe you guys are better at making it hard to get an account. Not you guys fault, but my account activation email didn't make it to me for two days and then for some reason it went to junk email. I am glad I seen it in there though.
Either way, I like the guys theme site and am glad he has it going. Fedora came with only a handful of themes and the only one that looks good is the Fedora one. I don't like the blue though, reminds me of Windows.

No, it is just plain hard work by all the staff. They usually get them as they are walking in the front door with IP checks, but occasionally one does get in and has to be dealt with in the forum. Thankfully us regular members are mostly spared from these gory scenes though. We dont appreciate all the work because we do not see what is happening behind the scenes, but I understand it is a full time job for quite a few of them.
