DVD playing - continuosly freezing

Hi all

I tried to play DVDs on my laptop with F11, however, regardless of using VLC or Mplayer, the picture is continuosly freezing, the video play stutters. Hence, I cannot use it. I installed all the possible codecs, but nothing.
What could be the cause to this issue ?

Tnx

That could be a problem with the graphics driver. Which card and driver do you use?
It could also be that your computer is not fast enough to do the encoding of the dvd. What are the specs of your machine? Is the dvd itself ok and what about the dvd player (the hardware)?

Everything works fine with Windows XP. Therefore, I believe we may exclude HW failure.

The graphic card is this one. The DVD player is a Toshiba DVD Rom SD-R2102, 512Mb Ram, PIII.

I am afraid the laptop is too outdated to run F11 at the best of its possibities.
Therefore, I reinstalled XP on that laptop, that may occasionally be used only to play DVD's.

I wil then buy a large USB stick, either 32GB or possibly 64GB, where I can complete a full install of F11, and use it on my newer, more powerful laptop. Then, I can enjoy F11, and start learning more about it

Thanks for help
