Could you run service-config-network and check whether the device is managed by Network Manager. If its not, there should be an option, which says that the device is controlled by Newortk Manager.

Hello shredder12

Welcome to the forum.

Is this a case of the card did work but now doesn't, or has it never worked?

If it hasn't worked, do you know what chipset is in your card. Have you attempted any install procedures?

thanks fellas for ur quick replies..
but the problem doesn't exist anymore.. it has started working properly again ..
Yes, it used to work properly earlier. But recently it didn't even show the list of available wireless networks and left clicking on the network manager showed that wireless networks were not being managed. So, i thought that something was wrong with the wireless system.
But when i booted into fedora again today after posting the wireless started working automatically.
