Is there any way to hide my username in login screen (GDM)?

You can disable the user list by typing (as root)

Quote:
gconftool-2 --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults --direct --type bool --set /apps/gdm/simple-greeter/disable_user_list true
There may be a simpler command, but that works in F11

Thank you very much guys.
I was expecting something like System>Administration>Login Window, not some spaghetty code.

Maybe gconf-editor will be easier, nonetheless this bug need to be fixed.

It used to be like that back in Fedora 8 , ... (pauses to reminisce about the good old days), but this is apparently progress in the minds of Gnome developers

The latest configuration documentation is http://live.gnome.org/GDM/2.22/Configuration

see how up to date it is? (we're on gnome 2.6 in Fedora 11)

Expect a nice gui config in Gnome 5.0, which will probably be mono based and taken over by microsoft to compete with whatever google are doing several years from now.

This is kind of thing that pisses me off. If ain't broken don't screw it. So much about Gnome human interface guidelines.

Gnome 5.0, when, 2150 AD?
