Gnome Panel: Lost the Name on the panel

Does any one know how to get the name back on the gnome panel. It seems to have disappeared , I tried using the add to panel feature by right clicking on the panel but cannot locate it in the list

Unfortunately User Switcher is not part of the list of items that can be added to the panel.
I tried reinstalling gnome-panel , gnome-terminal and even gnome-session, it does not show up.

I had everything working on Fc11 till yesterday when the system did an update which included a new kernel and few packages like compiz, gnome-panel, gnome-session, firefox etc . Now every time I logoff and log back or reboot , I find some feature or the other missing.

I'm experiencing the same problem... it must be a bug related to the update of gnome-panel
hope it will be solved soon
