Descent3 SIGNAL 11 caught,aborting - Fullscreen out of range

Hello guys

I have Fedora core 10 on a P3 1ghz with 768mb ram and Nvidia fx5200 with 173.14.18
NV drivers (the only ones that worked for me after days of trying installed using yum)
i can run many game with 3d acceleration like :

Soldier of fortune
Torcs
Open Arena
ManiaDrive
etc

BUT

i have Problems with Descent UT2004 and Trophy so :

UT2004 and Trophy play super well no lag full speed BUT only windowed when i switch to fullscreen i get an out of range error like i used a too big resolution or too high refresh rate. The monitor is a Sony SDM-HX73 and my desktop resolution is 1280x1024@60hz

Descent3 on the other hand starts runs the Intro and the back to desktop showing this error on the console :

SIGNAL 11 caught,aborting

i guess these problems may arise in other games in the future so i would like to resolve it any ides on what i should do ?

is it a drivers fault ????

Thanks
