kernel.org L. T. has no plans for changing from 2.6.

The newest Kernel in the solar system is
$ uname -a
Linux 2.6.31-0.68.rc3.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Tue Jul 14 11:43:17 EDT 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Novel did try talk up of talks for a 2.8.x kerlen but i havent heard anything more about it so i would think the 2.6.xx kernel is here to stay till Linus feels its good enough to start a 2.8.x kernel
