No GRUB when rebooting Fedora Core 2...

Everytime I've rebooted from Fedora Core 2, GRUB does not seem to boot up. I have to ctrl+alt+delete & then it comes up after the bios. Any suggestions?

ok, the problem might be that you installed grub on the second hadr drive but the bios only looks to boot you off the first. you may need to reinstall grub on the first (windows) hard drive, but make sure you have your windows install cd handy in case you need to restore you mbr to use windows.

not really superbnerd,

if the grub was install in the 2nd hd he can change the bios to boot from hd1 (slave) and it will boot into fc2 and all we need to do next it to edit the grub to boot into xp

Okay... I don't really understand how this all works, but I can tell you that grub is installed to the drive that fedora is on & that hard drive is set to slave... but then why would it boot up when restarting from win2k? The MBR loads grub, which loads the win2k or fedora... the MBR looks for grub on the linux drive, right? The odd part is, I don't have any other devices on the cable that the linux drive is, so does it default to master?

lets clarify the issue:

1. w2k installed in primary drive? i believe yes.
2. fc2 installed in slave drive.
3. enter bios and change how your system boots, f.e.:

1st boot = floppy
2ndboot = cd-rom
3rdboot = hd1 (which is slave and where the grub is installed)

see if this works.

The way I have it set up right now is that the linux hd is on it's own cable, set to slave, and Linux will boot up. The Win2k hard drive (master) is on the same cable as the CDRom (slave).
I can't even get grub to boot up if I have it set any other way. Can I change these settings in the grug.conf file?

Question GRUB freeze

So you got it to work with that setup?

Cause, I've got the same problem (GRUB freeze) and I only have 1 harddrive. Mine is a fresh install from scratch, text based anaconda installation to a server setup.

My box is an old i586 with 64MB RAM and 20GB harddrive + CDROM drive.

If I understand you guys right, it might be that I need to change the IDE order of my harddrive/CDrom physically to get the boot to work? (Old AWARD bios don't give me lot's of options.)
