iMac G3 sound problems

Hey,

Surprisingly I couldn't find anything about this anywhere on the internet, so i went here.

I recently installed fedora 11 for PPC on my iMac with a 500 Ghz processor, and 384 MB of ram. The sound always worked before with Mac OS X, however it does not appear that the sound drivers are installed. for the output device, it just says "null"

Has anyone ever had this problem before? I cant get sound out of the headphone jack or the speakers. everything else works fine.

Thumbs down Drivers Missing

Sadly, Fedora seems to be lacking drivers for many pieces of Apple hardware. It insists on installing hundreds of drivers for things that most of us don't have, but won't include drivers for some Applish things like soundcards or trackpads.

You can verify what sound driver is being used by your install by running the following command in a terminal:
Code:
 lspci -v | grep -i audio
If no output is printed before the system returns the command line [ending in a dollar sign], then you have no driver. Sorry i couldn't be more helpful.

See my post here (3rd post in thread):

That may work for you. It worked for me on a G4 iBook using Yellow Dog (which I once used) as well as Fedora 10. I haven't upgraded yet to Fedora 11. For some reason, lspci misses the soundcard, while showing other things like wireless/network cards, etc.
