FC2T3 and the Internet

Greetings all ! I recently downloaded and installed FC2T3 and I was VERY impressed !The initial download comes with kernel 2.6.5-1.327 and when going to connect to the internet, it connected just fine. After updating the kernel to 2.6.6-1.370 through up2date, it will not let me connect at all.
Is there something that I have to do to get it to work ? I don't mean to ask "noobie" questions, but I am some what of a "noob".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

try to open (as root) a console terminal and do the follows and take note of eventual errors:

ifconfig (this shall show your ip address)
route (this shall have a deafult gateway)
traceroute www.google.com

and report if you use any proxy
