    XDMCP with fedora 11

    Hello all,

    I cannot enable XDMCP login with fedora 11. In the previous version (fedora 10) it was just adding those two lines below

    Enable=1
    Port=177

    to the file "/etc/gdm/custom.conf" and opening udp port 177 from firewall.

    However, it does not work with fedora 11.

    Does anyone has any idea about what is wrong?

    Thanks.

    I'm finding it does not work either in F11. I'm using cygwin to connect from a Windows machine and it is complaining about:
    Fatal server error:
    XDMCP fatal error: Session declined Maximum number of open sessions from your host reached
    I upped MaxSessions to 100 and got same result.

    Also don't forget

    [security]
    DisallowTCP=false

    Port 177 is the default. You should not have to set that in custom.conf.
    And I believe it should be "Enable=true" rather than "Enable=1". But maybe both will work.

    Anybody got XDMCP working in F11?

    This is getting a little tiresome. XDMCP was broken in F9 and then fixed. Then broken again in F10 then fixed. And now its broken again in F11. Given this track record maybe XDMCP should be tested prior to releasing new versions of Fedora.

    Jim

    Is there a patch out there for this that doesn't require me to recompile gdm?
    An rpm or anything like that?

    I agree with you Jim1944, I can't understand why they keep breaking xdmcp.
    This is the only reason I'm still running fedora 7.

    I finally got xdmcp to work in FC11. The only client it would work with is another FC11 computer.
    But after logging using X -query command and then logging out I couldn't
    connect again. Was getting to many sessions for your host messages. To fix this I put
    in the custom.conf the following:
    [xdmcp]
    Enable=true
    MaxSessions=32
    DisplaysPerHost=2

    The displaysperhost is the line that fixed the to many sessions errors.
    The only problem is when logging out the session terminates and I have to
    give the X -query command again. But the remote login screen does come up.

    To get this working I installed all the current updates on both the server and client computers.
