It's not about themes for me. I use Gnome and I want to change the resolution for the login screen (it's toooo big), so I can choose swedish as default language.
If you talk about KDM, how do I start KDM in Gnome?

I removed GDM from within the package manager and now I can't login at all. I can choose user name and password, but after the screen is locked with the login screen picture.
I did Ctrl - Alt - F2 and: yum install gdm, but there isn't possible to download any packages.

Hi you can change the login screen/background like this
http://dnmouse.org/loginbackground.html
and for changing the resolution you might want to try adding a parameter in /boot/grub/menu.lst ie something like vga=0x318 after rhgb quiet, what the settings will be for your monitor im not sure, thats if i understand you correctly of what you want.

The login screen is locked, I can't login to Fedora at all. But forget it, I install Mandriva instead. It's too bad that Fedora doesn't have support for common hardware, in this case a Packard Bell laptop Easynote.
I use Fedora 11 in a Compal HEL80 and it works fine.

Both KDM and GDM are started before any desktop is started.
All it would take to have KDM start at bootup would be to add the desktop file to /etc/sysconfig
and put the line in there
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"
Quote:
su -
<root pass>
gedit /etc/sysconfig/desktop
DISPLAYMANAGER="KDE"
|
(save and exit gedit)
upon next bootup, pick the desktop you want from the session checkboxes.
