Pidgin problem
I just installed Fedora 11, it's my first time on Fedora and everything works fine except pidgin. My gmail account and IRC work perfectly, but when I try to log on MSN I get;
Quote:
Invalid certificate authority signature
The certificate chain presented by login.live.com does not have a valid digital signature from the Certificate Authority from which it claims to have a signature.

My Fedora is up to date and I'm using gnome, with the x86_64 version. I have another computer with Ubuntu (previously openSUSE), I double checked my info and it works perfectly on Ubuntu.

I got the same problem as of today. Also, in the pidgin notification area it says "Windows Live ID authentication:Unable to connect" . I suspect that MS is doing something different with their chat maybe?

Did you ever get this resolved? I am getting the same error on a Fresh 64 bit install of Fedora 11 with all the updates. Pidgin version is 2.5.8-1.
Thanks,
Scooby2

I once had a similar problem with XMPP. I had to manually download a certificate. But I can't remember where I put it and what I had to do next...aah, you can add them via Tools > Certificates in pidgin. YOu just need to get the certificate from your msn loginserver. I am not sure if this really is the same error that I had some time ago, but you can give it a try.

Its weird, I am only experiencing this on Fedora. No problems under Windows or Ubuntu with Pidgin. No one in the Pidgin channel seems to know anything about this problem. It seems Fedora only?

For some reason, it now works, even though I don't think I did anything related to pidgin...

I had the same problem on Fedora 11, to fix it I did the following :
1) Opened with Firefox the URL https://rsi.hotmail.com/ and added the certificate to FireFox.
2) On Firefox : Edit -> Prefrerences -> Advanced -> Encryption -> View Certificates -> Servers
Select rsi.hotmail.com and export the certificate to a file
3) On Pidgin : Tools -> Certificates -> Add
Select the file with the certificate exported on Firefox
4) Restart Pidgin
Regards,
Marcelo.
