Why is the art in Fedora going down hill?

They used to have great art but lately it appears to be going down hill. Just curious if anyone knows why.

Fedora 7,8, and 9 had a graphical boot and themed GDM as well as great unique artwork.

Then Fedora 10 introduced Plymouth, which had a great solar theme, but again the plain ugly GDM (which I understand is not Fedora's fault).

Now, in Fedora 11, we went from solar to this ridiculously ugly pulse Plymouth theme, and again the ugly GDM.

Seems like Fedora is losing it's visual appeal, which is a shame as that was always one of the major draws for me.

What's even worse, the KDE spin has a great boot with full background and a cool little spiral loading bar. Why wasn't that the default Plymouth theme?

I also noticed that most other major distros have the animated progress bars. Why is this disabled in Fedora? I have compiled nodoka with animation support, but only some of the progress bars are animated, while most are still static. Why?

Anyone else have any thoughts?

Well, thats all a matter of taste, isn't it? If you are not satisfied with the default Plymouth theme, you could change it. Personally, I think find the boot theme not too bad. I guess, it is a compromise between boot speed and graphical appeal and I prefer speed over graphics.

Maybe the "login window" option should be included in next releases? To make things easier.

what "login window" are you refering to? GDM will always be the Login on Gnome

Referring to the option of changing theme and atwork without rolling the sleeves up

preferring SLiM here myself, easy, lightweight, themeable, looking better then GDM or even KDM ootb.

The default Plymouth "charge" theme is a bit rubbish, you can revert to spinfinity or solar pretty easily

plymouth-set-default-theme spinfinity

It was kind of an off-release, and a big step back from the beautiful art in Fedora 10. But I didn't really like the art in Fedora 9 either, so I wouldn't really say this is a trend.

At least it's not brown :P.
