Brasero/K3b can any burner verify without errors?

Coming from Debian Sid and KDE, I am used to K3b and the problems during verify. Now with Fedora 11 and Brasero I'm also getting errors:

BraseroReadom stderr: Error trying to open /dev/sr0 exclusively (Device or resource busy)... giving up.
BraseroReadom stderr: WARNING: /dev/sr0 seems to be mounted!
BraseroReadom stderr: readom: Device or resource busy. Cannot open '/dev/sr0'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
BraseroReadom called brasero_job_error
BraseroReadom finished with an error
BraseroReadom asked to stop because of an error
error = 4
message = "You do not have the required permissions to use this drive"
BraseroReadom stopping
BraseroReadom got killed
BraseroReadom stderr: readom: For possible targets try 'wodim -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
BraseroReadom stderr: readom: For possible transport specifiers try 'wodim dev=help'.
BraseroReadom disconnecting BraseroReadom from BraseroChecksumImage
BraseroChecksumImage stopping
BraseroChecksumImage closing connection for BraseroChecksumImage
Session error : You do not have the required permissions to use this drive (brasero_burn_record burn.c:2599)

After going back and adding my user to cdrom and other groups, changing authorizations et.al., I am still getting errors that I don't have permissions to use the drive.

I've read through forums and bug reports and find out that my problem isn't unique. So, my questions are: 1) Does anyone know of a recent fix for this problem? Am I missing something? and, 2) Like with K3B, does the failure during verify usually leave me with a good burn anyway? and, 3) Does anyone know of a gui burner that doesn't have the verify problem? Or, should I go back to burning on cli with wodim?

Any advice?

You can also install / use K3B under gnome -- it's what I used recently and it worked fine. It'll just ask you if you want to integrate with konqueror when you start it up, you can answer no as I did, and it'll still start up and work.

Of course, when you install it, it'll pull in some kde things as dependencies, which you may or may not want to do. The only other one I tried was brasero, and someone responded to my question on here about k3b being ok in gnome. fwiw.

Thanks all, I did install K3b, and got the usual verify error. Burn was ok, as usual, but still get intermittent verify errors with it. That's why I started the thread, to see if there was one burner that could burn and go all the way through verify without problems. Have gnomebaker installed, so, next burn I'll try it and see if there is any difference. Have been a K3b fan for years, and, some versions actually worked without a verify problem. LOL, I just wish I would have wrote down which versions they were, and kept a copy. Let's see how gnomebaker does.

I use K3b and I use verify. The few times I have had problems with a verify I've just burned the disc again at a slower speed.

Maybe I'm just lucky with my hardware.

Cool errors

I started getting this same error after swapping my optical writer from an IDE to SATA. Never saw it in the past but now see it every time the system tries to verify a burn. I receive the error with both Brasero and k3b so I don't necc. think using Gnomebaker will avoid the problem.

Burns are error-free though.

Re: Brasero/K3b can any burner verify without errors?

What can I do to make Brasero, K3b or GnomeBaker verify the burned CD/DVD?
there is no option to do this anymore

This was a four year old thread but it won't hurt to post an answer....

Actually K3B does have a verify option, go to the main menu: Tools -> "Burn Image" and
in the bottom of the Burn Image window, select the "Settings" tab and check the box
called "Verify Written data"
Do the disk burn as normal and if it verifies you'll get "Success"
