firestarter-9.9 BETA is out

Yes firestarter-9.9 BETA is out for testing. I am waiting for this, for more info:

http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/news.php

For downloading:

http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/beta/1.0/

Remember it is a TEST version, so bugs could still be in the program.
If you would like the latest stable version(0.9.3-1):

http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/download.php

I couldn't find a release date for version 1.0, too bad. The screenshots
(http://firestarter.sourceforge.net/b...ots/status.png) look
promising!

No breaking news, but I found it very interesting.

I like the status window.

Firestarter is a nice complete firewall tool.

Looking forward to the release.

it looks much better! they should make sure it comlisse with the gnome HIG so they can include it in fedora instead of the overly basic firewall frontend we currently have. again, why do they always recreate the wheel?

i think it stands for Human Interface Guidline. it is a requirement gui programs must meet inorder to be accepted in to the official gnome release. it also helps usuability and consistancy between applications and distros.

Dunno... I'm quite happy with fwbuilder and the iptables scripts it generates... And it's object-oriented interface is superb... I use its scripts on my home server as well as my computer. Though I must confess that having an alarm system (to warn you of specified/preconfigured events) sounds good too.
