Unhappy Fedora 11 installation issue with X server

Hello,

I've tried to install Fedora 11, with F10 installed, but when Anaconda tries to start the X server it fails.
I have an Intel GMA3000 and a GeForce 8500GT VGAs, but I always had to boot with the Intel VGA as default (set up in the BIOS) because with the GF Fedora freezes up and doesn't load.
(That's sth I always wanted to fix but I don't know how to.)

When I try to install Fedora 11 it seems that the vesa driver doesn't work with the Intel VGA, so I can't get into the graphics mode to install it.
However I tried to install in basic graphic mode and took the "Replace Linux Intallation" but I lost all my data stored in my /home directory which was in a different parition than the root F10 directory. I got very angry because I've been doing this since Fedora 7 without any problems (in graphic mode).

Yesterday I got the F11 LiveCD and tried to install, but the same happens. I can get into the text mode but I couldn't find the /etc/X11/xorg.conf that I always edit when I have trouble with my VGA drivers. I think it doesn't exist in LiveCDs.

I hope you can help me.

Thanks

It doesn't exist at all for default Fedora 11 installs. I believe that KMS is running the graphics show now.
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f11/en-US/

Quote:
Intel, ATI and Nvidia kernel modsetting - Fedora 10 provided the first steps by a major distribution into using the kernel modesetting (KMS) feature to speed up graphical boot. We indicated at the time that we would be adding greater support for additional video cards as time went on. KMS originally was featured only on some ATI cards. In Fedora 11, this work is extended to include many more video cards, including Intel and Nvidia, and additional ATI as well. Although not fully complete, we have increased enormously the video card coverage of the KMS feature, with more to come.
There is more than one way to create an xorg.conf file if one wishes to. First thing that comes to mind is system-config-display --reconfig.

Unhappy Can't load Xserver

Thank you for your reply but I still can't load the Xserver.

I've found a xorg.conf file for my videocard but when I run it I get this error.

(EE) intel(0): max_gtt_map_size 60177Kb
Dropping master

I googled it and found it was a bug that could be solved by adding:
Option "Tiling" "False"

but doesn't work

Here are my xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log

Thanks for your help!

I solved it installing fedora 10 and then upgrading to F11 with yum upgrade. I think it's not the same but everything I could do.

Thanks for your help the same!
