Graphic problems with IBM Thinkpad R51

I have just installed Fedora and I am experiencing some graphic issues. I am using an IBM Thinkpad R51.

1. First of all, I am unable to set the resolutions to anything higher but 1024x768. When having Windows installed I can run higher resolutions.

2. After installing the Flash Player (tried both Adobe's and the GNU(?)) and visiting any page that has a Flash element, the page turns out like this:

This makes me suspect that there is a problem with the graphic drivers? Any suggestions?

You have an 855GM (Intel Extreme Graphics 2) video controller.
If you run xrandr you will probably see only one supported mode (1024x768).

The R51 was available with two display resolutions, 1024x768 and 1400x1050. Are you sure you have the 1400x1050 model? Can you check in windows?

If so you should file a bug report in bugzilla. If not then perhaps you should just lower your DPI so that everything will be smaller.

Try booting with the nomodeset kernel append. You may have to tweak /etc/grub.conf to allow for a timeout value on the grub menu. Once you add nomodeset, you should have both modes available to choose from.
