F11: KDE 4.2.3 system tray gap icon

Hi all,

just noticed some minor issue using the F11 KDE 4.2.3 install. I have tried doing a FTP install, using the KDE live cd and the x64 install DVD but got the same result on all three installations.

When I log in from KDM and the system tray starts to load icons there is always a blank space between the loading icons, much like an empty icon or previously on KDE4.0/4.1 a odd behaving icon. However after about 20-30 seconds the empty space disappears and the other trays icons move together closing the gap.

Does anyone else have this and what is causing this as opposed to KDE4.2 on F10 where i did not see this behaviour?

Another oddity is that for some reason the networkmanager notification balloon that it is "connected to eth0" (GTK app) shows up at the top right position instead of the bottom right above the Networkmanager system tray icon, this however just happens when i reinstalled using the DVD.

stefan

IIRC the gap is not F11 specific, I've got it on my F10 too.
As far as NM goes I'd suggest you to instal nm plazmoid. I guess gnome notifications might not line up 100% right with KDE desktop.

thanks, never had it myself on F10 though. From what i heard by the way is that the NM KDE widget is not stable until at least KDE4.3, never did try it yet though so just hearsay there.
