Need help with Samba [SOLVED]

Hey guys,

I recently have just started using linux and downloaded Fedora 10 and I'm trying to figure out how to fileshare and print share with my windows vista machine.

I edited the registry file on my Vista machine HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa\LMCompatibilityLevel and changed the level from 3 to 1.

I've also gone through a lot of tutorials on editing the smb.conf file and set my workgroup name, netbios, and changed permissions on my linux machine (a Lenovo netbook) etc but thats about as far as I can get.

This may sound like a dumb question but I can't even get samba to connect on my linux machine so how do I do that?

I was wondering if any of you guys can provide a solution as to how to connect or direct me to a good howto for setting up and using Samba seeing how I'm a noob.

I've been on Samba.org already and I'm more confused than ever.

I actually just figured it out.

I needed to yum install system-config-samba and then I set the computer to visible on the linux machine and I got it to show up and share on my Vista machine, YAY!

Thanks for coming back and posting your solution. I'm going to mark the thread solved, as that will possibly help others in the future.
