Alternative to Compiz

...Ill just come out with it.

I think Compiz Fusion is becoming bloated and losing direction.
What alternatives are there for overlaying systems apart from kWin?

Is this comment about Compiz in light of the merger the many Compiz forks back together into a single upstream?

Compiz does have it's issues at the moment, which is the entire point of them doing the merger. I should think Compiz will come out better overall.
