X "forgets" vsync setting?

Hi all, hopefully this is just a quick fix. I enabled vsync on my system by opening up nvidia-settings and checking the "sync to vblank" box and it works fine, BUT when I restart X vsync goes off again. I can tell because running glxgears shows the framerate at 5k~ when it should be 60.

Opening up nvidia-settings turns vsync back on (on launch the screen kinda flickers for a second and vsync is on again) So just wondering how to make the nvidia-settings stuff apply automatically without having to run it everytime!

Many thanks in advance.
