Exclamation Need help on how to ping fedora 6 desktop from windows vista desktop

Hi,

I'm trying to ping fedora 6 desktop from windows vista, but it's working! can someone tell me how to do this?

well, if ping doesn't work, there is something wrong with your network configuration. do both computers have valid ip's?

do you have samba installed and vista configured for it .
trying to install the old samba on the unsupported fedora 6 might be " fun" most of the repos are not working any more
i would install fedora 10

Hi akounga. I assume you meant to say it is "not" working. You shouldn't need Samba configured just to ping, as long as the ip addresses are on the same subnet and there are no firewalls blocking the icmp (ping protocol). (And,of course- you have the physical path set up correctly.)
