Intel 845g

I have the intel 845G graphics (integrated)
I probably never got the card to work properly.. based on a few things.. effects do not work.
I see glitches allot sorta like pops of glitches..
The only thing I got to work was my resolution.

How should my x.org config look like?
Automatic detection doesn't work.

No more glitches
Faster CPU.. everything works allot faster now.

Hmm.. Everything is fast now.. but there is a problem.. the glitches start up again after a while (30 mins - 2 hours)

I noticed the thermal paste on the chip and sink was really bad.. Now I think it could be an overheating problem.. What type of paste should I use? Is it necessary?

Hmm... improper cooling/overheating can cause such problems, yes. But so can other (software) issues. Here's some general info on CPUs and thermal/cooling: http://www.heatsink-guide.com/conten...=maxtemp.shtml

Are you running any hardware temperature monitoring apps ? The lm_sensors package is the default, but you must run sensors-detect, and set it all up correctly first.

Search the forums for info on thermal paste recommendations, as I know I've seen some. But personally, I've never had to goof with that stuff. I suggest that you start a new thread if you can't find an answer, so your question isn't buried here.

Alright well I installed lm sensors.. setit up.. I choose yes to all because the first time it couldn't detect any sensors.. and so did the second time on all yes..
So I guess that means no sensors :P

I'll just buy some paste in hope for the problems to stop..
