I am trying to get bacula up and running under Fedora 10, and clearly am not there yet. So far
- I got MySQL up and running.
- I edited all the bacula .conf files to change the passwords and set the host names.
- The service configuration tool shows bacula-dir, bacula-fd, and bacula-sd are all running.
However when I try to start the bacula console or tray monitor nothing seems to happen. When I try to start the bat monitor, I get a pop-up authentication window, the system log says that the application started, but nothing appears on the screen. At the same time, the Xorg.0.log shows an error message: client xx rejected from local host.
These symptoms make me think that there may be a problem with bacula configuration. However the X error might be due to some other non-bacula problem. I have triple-checked my bacula .conf files and they seem okay (names, passwords all match up). I think I have all the necessary bacula software installed. The bacula log file (/var/log/bacula.log) is not showing anything that seems helpful. The gdm log shows the same error as the X log. I even checked SELinux to see if it might be blocking something.
After hours of googling and poking at my system, I am out of ideas for what could be the problem(s). Can anyone suggest some starting points for troubleshooting? I am not a Linux expert, but I have a great deal of experience with software and operating systems so it's probably just a matter of knowing where to look and what to look for.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Debbie
