Intel Onboard audio / No 6 channel?

I installed Fedora Core 2 and it detected my sound card ok. The module is snd-intel8x0. It plays audio fine, but just out of 2 speakers. How can i get the 6 channel audio working? How can I even tell if hardware acceleration is turned on?

Hi!

I have VIA via82xx onboard sound, I am able to play the sound, but..

No output from Rear, Centre and LFE.

All the channels in Alsamixer/Kamix/kmix are unmuted and at decent levels.

I can get the sound from rear channel when 'Duplicate Front' option is on but not otherwise.

Anyone using 5.1, please help!!

5.1 works with 5.1 media. I am now not sure that stereo media can be played in 5.1 surround on linux box like winbloz. May be someone would come up with a decoder(?) plugin which will allow that.
