rawhide upgrade: yum audit-libs-python problem

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am facing problem of dependencies when upgrading fedora 10 using rawhide repo:
===========================
audit-libs-python-1.7.12-3.fc10.i386 from installed has depsolving problems
--> Missing Dependency: python(abi) = 2.5 is needed by package audit-libs-python-1.7.12-3.fc10.i386 (installed)
Error: Missing Dependency: python(abi) = 2.5 is needed by package audit-libs-python-1.7.12-3.fc10.i386 (installed)
============================
actually I removed other packages having dependency problem i.e. vlc,deluge,qemu,Miro,VirtualBox...but in this case audit-libs-python is being used by lots of packages.

how can I update my system using rawhide repo without facing this problem?

regards,
Arun Maurya

the way i believe to upgrade from rawhide if you did it Via yum you must update the rpm version first then do the upgrade, you should have python 2.6 installed during the upgrade

Hello arun_maurya,
it seems, that you have the same problem as described here:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=217557
Probably you can find some other help there.

With VirtualBox on rawhide you can find help here:

thanx cgrim,
but I could not find any solution in thread mentioned by you.. this is a common problem and everyone may be facing it.

python-2.5.2-1.fc10.i386 is installed in my system.but how to upgrade it to 2.6 as many packages depend on it...
in the same way rpm-4.6.0-2.fc10.i386 is installed and how to upgrade it to latest rpm?

it means we can't use rawhide and should wait till final release of Fedora 11?

Did you try preupgrade utility? I did upgrade from F10 to rawhide about three weeks ago using this utility and there was no problem with audit-libs python.

If you still want do it via yum, you can try to update this package (audit-libs-python) using rpm command with --nodeps flag (it's probably hardcore solution but in F10 and F11 are still the same version 1.7.12 so why not?).

Of course better is to remove audit-libs-python with it's dependencies and after upgrade install it all (audit-libs-python and it's dependencies) again ;-)
