Is it safe to apply recent updates for Network Manager, kernel?

It's time to apply my weekly updates. However, I have seen several posts on this forum this week that indicate there may have been some problems with the updates to NetworkManager and perhaps also the kernel. This may have occurred since March 9, 2009. How do I know when the problems have been fixed and the updates are safe to load?

Thanks!
