Hi,
I have long been a fan of Wired magazine's online publication. I am really impressed that way they have continued their committment to publishing really inreresting articles that address topics such as technology, security, science and medicine. Its a good way for me to know the latest happenings in these fields. Although there are many magazines and newspapers that publish similar contents, Wired stands out to me just becuase it is quite consistent its approach and presentation. My other favouties are the Time magazine, New York Times, PC Pro magazine, Reader's digest etc. I have been addicted to reading since my childhood and still continue to read heavily. My dad would always buy me a Reader's Digest on outdoor trips and he would make sure that my room was filled with books of science and technology. A few years ago I had to donate (to local libraries) almost 500 old issues of a variety of computer magazines as gifted to me by my friends and relatives over the last decade of so.
The news that make me happy generally have to do with medical science advancements as they help the whole of humanity. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that the internet has brought people and cultures together something that has not been achieved so easily in the recent recorded history through political mediations or diplomatic channels. The internet does the same thing like the Olympics do, it connects the globe effectively making us believe that we are one big huge family seeking happiness.
Please let me know which other magazines/sites that you regularly read and why they mean a lot to you and what effects they have had of your way of thinking if at all.
I am also looking for a site that gives good programming discussions on languages like C, C++, Java, Perl, PHP and Linux/Fedora related issues. Please do share other types of magazines as well which you have been reading for a significant period of your life.
Thanks for your time....
