Question Open a new terminal using keyboard shortcut.

Hi.

I've encountered a problem regarding keyboard shortcuts after reinstalling Compiz (current version: 0.7.6). Now the shortcut to open a new terminal (Ctrl+E) simply produces the following error message:

Quote:
No terminal command has been defined.
Google told me this may have something to do with Compiz. I checked my Compiz settings, and the General Options > Commands > Run terminal command > Terminal command line -field was indeed blank. But the error message still remains after filling out gnome-terminal as suggested in the Ubuntu Forum thread. It works when invoked while Compiz is running, though.

Any ideas on this? Thanks!

Looks like you were close, but fiddling with the wrong setting.

General Options > Commands > Open a terminal

Click on the box that says "Disabled" and then check the "Enabled" button that pops up.
Doing that brings up another box that lets you set the keyboard shortcut to launch a new terminal, which was your stated goal.

Thanks for your reply PabloTwo.

Perhaps I was unclear in my explanation. I had already done what you mentioned. It works when Compiz is running, but the error message pops up whenever I try to use Ctrl+E while Compiz isn't running. That's the main problem, as I don't use Compiz by default. Hope this will clear things up!
