Question Free Memory

Dear All

I am confused about the reporting of free memory on my linux box.

dmesg: confirms I have 1Gb installed
top: shows 1Gb Total Memory
Using Webmin "Running Processes" shows 1Gb Total Memory
free: however shows Total memory 2Gb

Can anyone tell me why "free" reports double the RAM size?

Thanks in advance

Peter

How big is your swap space?

It's probably the total virtual memory space.
