Don't know what happened, I generally run openbox by itself and call gnome-appearance-properties to set my gtk themes. But after doing the latest yum update I have some serious problems.
I can't run the gnome-settings-daemon, i can't set gtk themes or wallpaper using gnome-appearance (i'm now doing this with nitrogen and manual config of the gtkrc-2.0 file. If I do, X completely freezes, and even ctrl alt backspace doesn't work. I have to hold the power button to reboot and start over. Using alternate programs for volume, wallpaper and manually doing the gtk settings is no big deal, but other areas are.
I can't really lock my computer anymore as every screensaver app freezes the computer in the same state as well. Same thing happens in gnome-screensaver as well as xscreensaver.
so i booted into Gnome, in which I have compiz enabled... same thing, within seconds of me logging in.
So back to openbox with all gnome stuff turned off, if I play videos it will randomly lock up doing the same thing (including flash videos on the web, so any random site that displays flash ad that gets through my ad blockers, has the potential to freeze X for me).
Any one got any ideas on where to look to resolve the issue? I'm really trying to avoid a reinstall as i have a lot of apps I needed to compile from source due to Fedora's repo's lacking.
