openjdk java plugin does not work (behind authenticated proxy)

Hi friends,
I'm not able to get the openjdk plugin to work for internet sites. I can see that it works well for the applets i have on my localhost. So i thought maybe its due to the proxy. I am behind a proxy which requires authentication. I searched for the problem but could not find many people behing a proxy. So i'd be glad if anyone could offer any help, esp. those who are behind proxies. Note that the old sun java plugin used to work well, asking my proxy username/password in each session i used it. I've also filed a bug report at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=487872 . If anyone has got it working or has any prior art regarding it pls let it be known.
Thanks a lol
