Fan Problem On Sony Vaio PCV-RX640

Hi. Im using FC2 on a Sony Vaio PCV-RX640 Box. I Have A Problem When I Run Linux My Fans RPM Goes At 5,000+ Plus RPMS And While In Windows It Goes 2,000-2,500 RPMS. I Have ACPI enabled And APM disabled. And The Problem Is That In The /proc/acpi directory there are alot of folders that are empty.
I tried using lm_sensors 2.8.7 which have a better PWN support. and i dont know how to install it and the installintion instructions are confusing because im a beginner at linux. Is tehre any better or easier programs that i can control my fan rpm in linux or sumone help me with a good install on lm_sensors thanks

Sony Vaio fan Issue

Did you ever find and answer? I have the same problem with my PCV-RX580. I've been searching for a solution for a long time.

My last computer was a SONY Vaio PCV-RX470DS and it had fan issues. I was able to download a patch from SONY's web site that helped. There is a fan control utility for your model PCV-RX640 at http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-do..._id=96&os_id=7
I'm not sure if this will help or how this utility works--i.e., whether it flashes the BIOS or runs as a stand alone program in Windows (I realize your problem with the fan speed happens when you are in Linux).
