No Mic in HP Pavilion DV6000 with Fedora 10

Hi, I just left Windows Vista and installed Fedora 10 on my laptop (HP Pavilion DV6000) and I am really happy with the OS, I won't use Windows again, everything it's ok except for the microphone, i can't capture any audio even trying multiples audio configuration, i've been looking in the net about answers but I haven't seen nothing yet.

My sound card is CONEXANT CX20561 ANALOG

If anybody could help me with the sound card configuration I will thanks a lot.

i have an hp dv7 laptop and i had major audio problems for a long time. fedora 11 fixed a lot of them out of the box but in order to get any capture devices working i had to do this.

open a terminal and as root add this line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

'options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1' than reboot.

before i enabled this option i couldn't open ardour, audacity wouldn't play anything or record anything and gnomes sound recorder wouldn't capture anything. after this all these programs worked as they should

also, keep in mind that if you have a microphone input and an onboard mic you will need to select which one to use as your capture device. the easiest way to do this is to open alsamixer from the terminal with this command 'alsamixer -c0' than you should be able to find an option called 'input source' or 'digital input source' and toggle between your input devices. it might also help you to open up fedoras sound recorder and hit record while you are messing around because it has a VU meter that is active while it is in record mode. as soon as you see activity you know your settings are good.

hope this helps.

just to be sure, the line of text should be added without the commas. so it should look like this
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

Hmm I've no mic as well here

Creating a alsa-base.conf didn't work, I also tried adding that line in dist.conf

My laptop is a Dell XPS but I have the same microphone model 'snd-hda-intel'

I will try to look into this and if I find a solution I will let you guys know.

EDIT: Ok, if you check volume manager capture. Change the input and you might get something.
Really low microphone here but at least it's a progress.

I forgot to say here, I've fixed my problem just yesterday.
And guess what I did? I removed Pulseaudio

Very good mic volume now.

The key is to remove just "pulseaudio".
if you want to remove the whole thing it will build a huge dependency hell. Unfortunately you will have to leave the libs there, it's not right but it won't bother you..

If you remove just "pulseaudio" it will ask to remove (correctly, because you have to) "alsa-plugin-pulseaudio" as well, so just remove them

It might also work by removing just the "alsa-plugin-pulseaudio" . That's how I fixed this problem in F9

But here in my F11 I removed "pulseaudio" and "alsa-plugin-pulseaudio" and it works perfectly now.

?

I told you, just "pulseaudio" hasn't any dependencies

try in the terminal "yum erase pulseaudio" and you will see, it will ask to remove "alsa-plugin-pulseaudio" too, just hit yes and be happy

M4rc0, now you can use the mic, but you can use the bluetooth headset(if you have) too?

thanks
