I've got a Dell Studio laptop, and recently installed f10. I managed to get most things running (wasn't that hard) but I've now got two problems left:
1.
If I resume from suspend, my screen doesn't turn on again. I do get the lights on my sound buttons turning on, and the hard disk light is also blinking. The last part of my suspend log looks like this, if I look at it after I've shut down the laptop by resetting:
/usr/lib64/pm-utils/sleep.d/99hd-apm-restore.hook suspend suspend: saving level
128 for device sda
success.
/usr/lib64/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video suspend suspend: success.
Wed Feb 11 20:12:05 CET 2009: performing suspend
Wed Feb 11 20:12:46 CET 2009: Awake.
Wed Feb 11 20:12:46 CET 2009: Running hooks for resume
/usr/lib64/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video resume suspend:
(END)
When I push the power button, I get a window to choose what to do, but it also just shuts down after 60 seconds, so to check whether the rest was actually working I also pushed that button after waiting for about 3 minutes for the screen to turn on. And indeed after one minute the laptop properly shut down. The suspend log tail now looked like this:
/usr/lib64/pm-utils/sleep.d/99hd-apm-restore.hook suspend suspend: saving level
128 for device sda
success.
/usr/lib64/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video suspend suspend: success.
Wed Feb 11 20:17:57 CET 2009: performing suspend
Wed Feb 11 20:18:34 CET 2009: Awake.
Wed Feb 11 20:18:34 CET 2009: Running hooks for resume
/usr/lib64/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video resume suspend: /usr/lib64/pm-utils/function
s: line 39: 3821 Terminated "${hook}" $2
(END)
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
2.
my second problem is that my fan is running like an idiot almost from the start, even when I'm only running firefox. My laptop is a lot quieter on Vista (of all things). I tried to look with ps -aux, but I didn't see any big cpu/memory using programs
