DVD writer

I was wondering what DVD writer you guys would recommend ? I'm thinking in terms of compatibility with FC2 and being able to burn DVD's which I can then watch on my dvd player.

I've got a plextor px-708. As far as I know all plextor dvd burners work rather well on linux.

Thanks for the info

I've gone for a Sony DRU-700A, installed find and linux detected it. The oinly oddity I have is that k3b has decided that it can't burn CD's (although strangely it accepts it can Writes CD/RW) surely if it can do one, it can do the other ?

The documentation says it can burn x40, but still k3b is having none of it.

I have a toshiba, burns cds and dvds no problem. You may want to try re-installing your OS from scratch to get everything to work with the new hardware.

I take back my words on that particular plextor drive. It won't burn dvd+rs on k3b. I've looked into it and haven't found a fix yet.
