Does not suspend when laptop lid closed

Hi,

I have Fedora 10 on an Inspiron 5100. I have set the When laptop lid is closed action in Power Management to suspend, but when I close the lid nothing happens. I can do a Shutdown and choose suspend and the system will suspend and then resume correctly when I raise the lid.

Is there something else I need to configure?

I also had a similar issue but when checked System>preference>system>power manager i found it was set to be blank screen on ac power- changing that did the trick for me.

I have a centrino based hp dv4000 system...

I have to close the lid *twice* before suspend will work.

I typically mash the lid closed button by hand once after I
wake the rascal up.

Weird.
