slow flash disk?

hi,

I just bought myself a Sony USB 2.0 & 1.1 Flash Drive.
Its running pretty slow though. Giving me speeds of 3MBps or less only. Is this normal? Bug?

regards,

Ankur

you got usb 1.1 or 2.0 ports on the laptop?

transferring software from my HD to my USB HD gives me a speed of 25mb/sec
both HD and usb ports are assumed as 2.0 USB

hi,

I took my system to the HP service centre. They say "we need to reformat your system to be sure". All they actually know is reformat or change the entire thing.

I told them that the problems exist on both Vista and Fedora (and so should not depend on OS), and that my drivers are correctly installed. They still want to reformat, so I refused (I have too much data to loose).

Is there a hardware expert on the forum who can shed some light on what's going on??

regards,

Ankur
