For one thing F8 has passed its end of life. That may be your problem. Only F9 and F10 are currently being updated.

If you want to stay and play with F8, then first:

# yum update fedora-release

Then do a full update.
Then do: # rpm -Uvh --nosignature remi-release-8.rpm
Then do: # yum update firefox

You should then have the lastest v3.0.5 of FF.

Edit: or save your bandwidth for downloading either an F10 install DVD or Live CD and do a fresh install on top of your F8 install (backup any data you want preserved before doing so).

I recommend a fresh install. Upgrading from 8 probably mostly works, but I always find that upgrades leave some things broken in subtle ways and these are difficult to find and fix afterwards. If your home directory its on its own partition, then running the installer and formatting the system partition and not the home partition is easy. Otherwise you need to back up the home directory somewhere else first.

The Fedora 10 live cd is quite useful, I'd burn that and install from there and get the rest over the network. The volume of updates is such that you end up downloading a lot even if you install from the DVD.

Edit: typo.

Those are surely not F8 repos you're using.
