Question touchpad not working on Toshiba Satellite A75 in FC2

I cannot get my touch pad work at all in FC2. It works with Knoppix (2.4 kernel but not 2.6 kernel)
Having to always plug in a USB mouse is a pain. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

Have the same problem

I have the same problem. dmesg doesn't show anything and nor /proc/bus/input/devices.

input: USB HID v1.10 Mouse [Qtronix Corp USB MOUSE] on usb-0000:00:13.0-2

# cat /proc/bus/input/devices

This is hearsay, I haven't verified it myself on my Sony VAIO, but - I saw somewhere a while back (sorry, I'm working from a hastily scrbbled paper note) that adding:
Code:
psmouse.proto=imps
to the kernel line in grub should get the touchpad working. Further, at boot on the initial install, use the command:
Code:
linux psmouse.proto=imps
should make the installation more pleasant.

I have not verified, as I said - just about the time I stumbled across this tip I got my nice, new desktop up & running and I haven't really done much with my laptop (which currently has FC1 installed) since. So, please, someone try it & post the results here.

I have a Toshiba A70, and needed to disable 'legacy USB support' in the bios. As soon as I did that, the touchpad (minus wheel functionality) began working.

Have you tried this synaptics driver http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/touchpad/ . Go to the download section, un-compress the file and follow the INSTALL direction. This is what I am using on my Laptop.
