Hi, ran into a strange problem there today and I'm not quite sure how or what caused it.
From the start, after updating i rebooted and just when i had to login I got a warning that gnome-power-manager had failed to install properly and its configuration defaults were wrong. I then proceeded to login and to my horror everything was just wrong, fonts sizes, resolution and panals missing, launchers missing, just general wrongness with settings. I restarted X and it was still the case.
Believing the problem to be Gnome-power-manager I reinstalled which removed the error notice that it was installed wrong but kept all the problems. So I went about cleaning them up, putting panels in the right places and re sizing things and such. After I fixed most back to how i liked them, the only thing remaining was the fact the icons on the desktop were too big and the fonts were also too big. Also there was a new line under each icon telling me the number of items in the folder. Thinking this was mearly a problem that could be fixed by looking at preferences in the file browser I tried to open them but the whole system stoped responding and when it came back, 15 seconds later, preferences were not opened.
So ya, not sure if i should tackle the origional problem or the strange preferences problem but this is messing with my head and all help is appriciated!
Thanks in advance
Mark,
EDIT: Also noted a new problem, all the keyboard shortcuts in system-preferences-personal-keybord shortcuts are shown as unknown actions and are disabled. Very strange
